This site is truly a delight for a lawyer - a website all about yourself! What a concept! I could never have gotten anyone to publish the book of my life story, but through the magic of the Internet, I can create the living autobiography of Glenn K. Garnes. I really love the Web! And, the beauty of it is, that if you don't care to read all about me, it's okay, because I didn't pay a fortune to have all this stuff published, and distributed in somebody's books store.
So, feel free to sit back, and stay awhile. I'd love to tell you all about me. I live a very exciting life, and I love for others to experience the burden of hearing about it! I can talk about me forever, and if you stay long enough I will. But, seriously, I also like to share information, thoughts, dreams, ideas, almost everything except communicable diseases, so feel free to contact me if anything you see hear motivates you, pisses you off, or stimulates thought on your part. I'd love to hear from you!
Testing my new Twitter Tool!
I’m testing my new interface with Twitter to see if my blog entries here get posted on my Twitter page. Sue Crocker is a genius!
The Craving to be Appreciated.
“The deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated.“ - William James
William James absolutely understood one of the most important realities of positive human interaction with the above concept. The fact is that if all we did each day was take the time to feed someone’s craving to be appreciated by acknowledging them sincerely in some way we would have stronger relationships than we ever dreamed.
The problem for most of us is that we spend too much time seeking to have our own craving for appreciation fed and not enough time giving that wonderful experience to others.
Eventless Business Networking - How to do it without attending events.
I have heard from more than a handful of people that they don’t do more business networking because they don’t like attending events. Let me say that business mixers, and business networking events are not for everyone, and in fact, even for people that like them they are not where the most productive networking gets done. Business networking events are actually the beginning of a process. That process starts with having the opportunity to meet people with whom you can network. So, if you have other ways to meet people without going to a business networking event you can accomplish your goals without attending a massive number of events.
One way to do that is to be actively involved in a quality business social network. If you make a commitment to review the profile of at least one person a day and set up a time to have coffee with them you will meet and get to know an average of 20-30 new people every month, and you’ll be doing it in a much more comfortable environment than you find at business networking events. Don’t assume that because you’re not a “business networking” party animal that you cannot be effective and building quality relationships with the people around you. Remember, business networking is about relationship building, and that comes from taking a sincere interest in other people. If you can do that it doesn’t have to start at a business networking event.
